Most founders cannot say their runway out loud without guessing. The number is real, it matters more than almost anything else in an early company, and it is sitting in a spreadsheet that has not been opened since last month.
Plainhub exists to fix that one number. You type what happened in plain words, like “Paid €4,000 for Meta ads” or “Hired two engineers”, and your runway, burn rate and MRR update as you type.
What we deliberately do not do
Plainhub never connects to your bank. There are no statement uploads, no accounting integrations, and no imports. That is a deliberate constraint, not a missing feature: the fastest way to a number you trust is to record the handful of events that actually move it, rather than reconciling hundreds of transactions you did not need to see.
It is also not accounting software. Plainhub will not file your taxes or close your books. It answers the founder’s question, how long do I have and what changes it, and leaves bookkeeping to bookkeepers.
How we write about money
Everything in the Plainhub blog is written for founders rather than accountants: the formula, a worked example with real numbers, and the caveat that catches people out. We publish the same definitions our product calculates with, so the burn rate calculator, the cash flow forecast and the MRR calculator all agree with the articles that explain them.
Plainhub is a product, not a licensed financial advisor. Our guides explain how these metrics work so you can run your own numbers; they are not personalized financial, tax or investment advice.
